When humans have thought of holograms in the past, what’s came to mind? Some might have said Star Wars, some might have said Star Trek, but at the core of it all: science-fiction. Yet, in an age where we find ourselves leaving the “fiction” in the past, holograms have globally begun to permeate into entertainment, education, advertising, and all disciplines. They are no longer something you dream of, but something you can see with your own eyes. And now, it’s something that YOU can build. In this 4-week program, you’ll be able to dip your toes into the world of holography building your own hologram and, yes, being able to take it home with you. We’ll begin with an introduction to holography and Blender, an industry standard 3D modeling software in which you’ll learn the basics of 3D modeling. We’ll cover object creation, animation, shading, and numerous other functions of Blender that you’ll use to create your hologram. After you’ve learned the basics, we’ll do a step by step walkthrough of how to design a hologram-ready animation. Once your design is ready to go, you’ll be given your very own 15” holographic fan, and you’ll be shown how to operate your fan and its software, along with uploading animations. By the end, you’ll be able to bring the magic of a hologram to your home. With the skills you learn, you’ll have the foundational knowledge and the technological means to bring your vision to life.
