Who is this for Teens and adults at any level, no sewing or coding experience needed. Just bring your curiosity and a love of making beautiful things. What you'll do Sparkle & Stitch sits at the intersection of fiber arts and electronics, where embroidery thread meets conductive thread, and felt meets glowing NeoPixel sequins. You'll learn to design and build wearable technology that is as much art as it is engineering. The session builds toward a holiday wearable you design yourself - a light-up sweater, an embroidered garment, or a glowing accessory. Along the way you'll complete a first project in the early weeks, that teaches you everything you need to know before you tackle your main piece. No prior sewing or coding experience needed. If you can hold a needle, you can build this. And by the end of the session, you'll have something genuinely spectacular to wear. What you'll learn • Hand embroidery and felt work • Conductive thread circuits • NeoPixel sequin placement and design • Programming microcontrollers • CircuitPython basics • Circuit planning and layout on fabric • Wearable electronics design • Power management for wearables Materials A materials kit including the microcontroller, NeoPixel sequins, conductive thread, felt, and basic notions is included in the class fee. Students bring their own garment for the final holiday project - a sweatshirt, sweater, or fabric item of your choice that we'll transform together. Class Information Tuition: $450 for the full 10-week session. Register by July 15th and use code FALL to pay just $400 — save $50. Family discount: 5% for anyone signing up with more than one person. Cancellation Policy
- You can cancel up to one week before the start of a class for a 50% refund. - If using a 6 Class Pack Plan (currently only applies to crochet classes), you must let us know at least 24 hours in advance if you are unable to come to a session in order to reschedule. Failure to email us will result in you forfeiting the session. Please be sure to email us at hello@makerhive.space - No refunds if cancelled within a week of the first class (except in case of a trial first class or if we fill your spot). - Pro-rated fees available if you sign up for a class mid-way. - Classes can be cancelled due to low enrollment. - If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, all fees will be refunded.
