Description

We need a minimum of 8 sign ups to run the workshop! If we do not met the minimum, we will have to cancel the workshop. Join Art Therapist Tara DeLuca for a unique and reflective hands-on experience inspired by the traditional Japanese practice of kintsugi, the art of repairing broken pottery in a way that highlights, rather than hides, the cracks. In kintsugi, the break becomes part of the object’s history, not something to be concealed, but something that adds to its beauty and strength. In this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to learn, create, and connect. The experience begins with an introduction to the history and philosophy behind kintsugi, and how its themes can resonate in our own lives. Using contemporary materials and approaches, participants will break, paint, and rebuild a ceramic bowl- symbolically reflecting on the idea that repair and transformation can be sources of strength. Each bowl becomes a personal expression of resilience. Once mended, the cracks are highlighted with gold glue, making each piece unique and meaningful, more beautiful not in spite of its breaks, but because of them. Participants are invited to share their reflections either in small groups or as a collective, exploring how we each encounter change, challenge, and renewal in different ways. As a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist, Tara gently facilitates opportunities for connection through the creative process, encouraging participants to reflect on their own growth and transformation. This workshop is a calming, creative, and restorative experience, a moment of self-care and reflection in community with others. Instructor Bio: Tara DeLuca, MA, LCAT, ATR-BC is a Westchester native, Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and a mother of 3 young children. Tara has had the pleasure of integrating Art Therapy into a variety of settings and locations, including pediatric and adult hospitals in NYC, Nashville, and international work in the country of Qatar. Most recently, Tara has ventured into offering kintsugi inspired workshops locally to spread awareness of this art, and to guide participants through the journey of self reflection and discovering the beauty in our own imperfections. Join Tara at our upcoming workshop to participate in this transformative experience.
