Who should take this class: Students new to coding, circuits, or making. No prior experience needed! What you will learn This spring, Level 1 students step into the role of game designer. The Game Design Lab is all about learning to code by building something you actually want to play. Students will design and program their own simple video games in MakeCode Arcade. In the second half of the session, students design and build a physical custom game controller. By the end, every student has a game they coded AND a controller they built from scratch. Skills practiced: • MakeCode Arcade block coding • Basic game design • Iterative design and playtesting • LED arcade button and joystick wiring • Vector design • Laser cutting and engraving • User-centered hardware design 5% family discount for anyone signing up more than one person for classes at the Maker Hive. Cancellation Policy
- You can cancel up to one week before the start of a class for a 50% refund. - If using a 6 Class Pack Plan (currently only applies to crochet classes), you must let us know at least 24 hours in advance if you are unable to come to a session in order to reschedule. Failure to email us will result in you forfeiting the session. Please be sure to email us at hello@makerhive.space - No refunds if cancelled within a week of the first class (except in case of a trial first class or if we fill your spot). - Pro-rated fees available if you sign up for a class mid-way. - Classes can be cancelled due to low enrollment. - If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, all fees will be refunded.
