Who should take this class: This class is by teacher placement only and focuses on more advanced coding and robotics concepts incorporating the Raspberry Pi Pico microcontroller, sensors, circuit python and CAD design. Please reach out to us if you think this class is a good fit for your child. What you will learn: Creative Tech students work like real engineers and inventors, taking on complex challenges and learning advanced techniques used in industry. Students will identify a project/challenge they want to work on, build a plan, work through a prototype before creating a final project. This could be a project for school, a Science and Engineering Fair or for Robo Expo. They could work independently or as a small team. For students who are ready for it, we will also learn how to solder to create permanent and reliable connections and also explore machine learning models for image, motion and sound recognition. Skills practiced: • Raspberry Pi Pico programming • Soldering techniques • Motor control and mechanical systems • Sensor integration and calibration • Machine learning exploration • User-centered design thinking • Project management • Prototyping and iteration • CAD design • Laser cutting • 3D printing • Advanced circuits • Presentation skills at local competitions and science fairs Students have the opportunity to showcase their final projects at school Science Fairs or Robo Expo (in NYC). 5% family discount for anyone signing up more than one person for classes at the Maker Hive. Cancellation Policy
- You can cancel up to one week before the start of a class for a 50% refund. - If using a 6 Class Pack Plan (currently only applies to crochet classes), you must let us know at least 24 hours in advance if you are unable to come to a session in order to reschedule. Failure to email us will result in you forfeiting the session. Please be sure to email us at hello@makerhive.space - No refunds if cancelled within a week of the first class (except in case of a trial first class or if we fill your spot). - Pro-rated fees available if you sign up for a class mid-way. - Classes can be cancelled due to low enrollment. - If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, all fees will be refunded.
