stEP 1: Gather Materials
-
Printed Templates - Either from the Dispatch or download them from here
-
Scissors
-
Glue / Glue Stick
-
Cardboard - Amazon cardboard boxes work well for these templates
You can do Step 1 & 2 ahead of time and have your tiles prepped and ready to go for the holiday weekend. Alternatively, delegate this task to the non-cooks of the family on the big day!
STEP 2: PREPARE YOUR TILES
1
Cut out the shapes from the printed template
2
Glue the shapes to a piece of cardboard
3
Cut the cardboard along the templates including the notches
You can ignore the notches at this point!
Glue the template to the printed side of the cardboard
For the notches, cut along the long edges first. Then bend down the notch as shown in the picture and snip
STEP 3: Decorate your Tiles, Connect Them & ENJOY Your FAMILY ARt!
Gather all your art supplies to create an art supply station. This could be crayons, markers, color pencils, Sharpies, paints, stickers ...whatever is at hand.
Distribute tiles to everyone gathered home for the holidays. And get everyone to decorate one tile. You could set a theme (e.g. what are you thankful for) or just let everyone let their creative juices flow! Decorate both sides or just one. Make sure everyone sign's their name on their tile!
This can be done together around a table or asynchronously throughout the weekend. Finally, when everyone's tile is complete, gather everyone together and take turns connecting the tiles together to create a beautiful piece of art that reflects the creativity and personality of your closest connections!
To make the sculpture stronger and more long lasting you could glue together any loose connections.
Finally, display it proudly on your mantle, your table or hang it as a beautiful ornament. You could even decorate it with fairy lights.

Hope you have fun making lasting connections literally and figuratively this holiday season!
