Are you a STEM enthusiast with a knack for creativity? We’re seeking a dynamic individual to join our team and lead our tinkering clubs and camps.

Responsibilities
  • Lead after-school tinkering clubs and break camps for elementary and middle school aged kids.  

    • Approximately 8 hours per week; after 3:30PM on Mondays and Tuesdays during the school year

    • Camp days and times vary and are to be determined.

  • Develop ideas and projects for tinkering clubs and camps incorporating microcontrollers, hobby electronic components like motors, LED lights and fabrication methods like 3D printing and laser cutting.

  • Train teenage assistants to run successful sessions

  • Collaborate with assistants to provide individualized attention and instruction to each child

  • Conduct safety training on equipment such as hot glue guns, box cutters and laser cutters and maintain a safe environment for students at all times

  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace so it is easy for students and instructors to access the materials they need

  • Generate supply lists and identify any shortages to facilitate smooth operations

  • Collaborate with the director to develop new projects and curriculum
     

Qualifications

The right person will have the following qualities:

  • Experience teaching children

  • A natural inclination for tinkering, fixing, DIY projects and crafts

  • An aptitude for technology

  • Interested in learning new skills

  • Good organizational skills 

  • Effective communication skills

  • Knowledge of coding and hobby electronics (e.g. Makecode, Scratch, Micro:Bit, Raspberry Pi, Arduino, Tinkercad etc.) is a plus

  • College degree in a STEM field is a plus

  • Competitive hourly rate of $25 - $35 per hour based on experience. This translates to approximately $200-$300 per week.
