This technique is made of two grids (like in filet/mesh crochet) made of double crochet and chain spaces. Each row has two parts: part A is the border color and part B is all other colors. The stitches of parts A and B interlock to create the design on the right side of the project and a negative image on the wrong side. We will be using this pattern: Astrid’s Christmas Tangle Potholder by Astrid Schandy. This is a free pattern available for download on Ravelry. **Bring your own supplies: 2+ stitch markers 3mm-4mm crochet hook or appropriate size for your yarn choice 3 colors of yarn Yarn: We recommend fingering weight cotton yarn. If you do not plan to use this as a potholder, you may choose another fiber or weight of yarn (a bigger yarn weight will result in a larger finished project). You will need one skein of each color if using suggested yarns or similar. Yarn used in pattern: Scheepjes Catona fingering weight, 100% cotton, 125m/100g with 3mm hook Yarn used by teacher: Hobbii Friends 8/4 fingering weight, 100% cotton, 160m/50g with 3.5mm hook Looking to shop local? We recommend Pick Up Every Stitch yarn shop in Mt. Kisko Skill level: this class is suitable for confident beginner/ intermediate level crocheters. This is not a suitable class for a true beginner. Students must know how to double crochet and chain. Experience with pattern reading, color changes, and filet crochet are a bonus but not required. About the instructor: Linnea Grimm has been crocheting for 4 years after learning through online tutorials during COVID. She has since crocheted nearly every single day, specializing in wearable garments and tapestry color work. Linnea owns a pop-up vintage shop called Cursed Objects Vintage and is one of the organizers of the Hastings Flea Market (second Sundays of the month through November) where you can find her vintage booth. Linnea’s fashion background has given her a deep knowledge of the ethics and sustainability of the fashion industry which in turn informs her practice as a fiber artist.
