Description
Learn the basics of frame loom tapestry weaving and create your own woven wall hanging in this beginner weaving workshop led by Courtney Salerno @madeby_cjk. Courtney will bring some finished pieces she's created to help evoke some inspiration and for you to get ideas for your process. During this class you'll learn: - How to set up the warp thread on loom - Weaving stitches including rya knots, rya loops, tabby weave, pile weave, and soumak weave - How to add fringe - How to weave with fibers of various weights and textures You'll leave with a small wall hanging and the skills to create more on your own. Registration includes all the materials necessary to make a small wall hanging, including a loom, warp thread, yarn and dowel for hanging. Materials will be available for purchase if you choose to continue on your weaving journey! Artist Bio: Courtney Salerno is a teacher and fiber artist living in the Hudson Valley, NY. She began weaving in 2016 and creates in her home studio on handmade frame looms. She is mostly self taught and experiments with a variety of fibers including cotton rope, yarn, wool roving, and hand dyed ribbons. For the past three years, Courtney has created pieces for Upstate Art Weekend in collaboration with AR and Community Hinterland. She has shown work at The Yard gallery, in Beacon, NY and Arbor Gallery in Carmel, NY.

- You can cancel up to one week before the start of a class for a 50% refund. - No refunds if cancelled within a week of the first class (except in case of a trial first class or if we fill your spot). - Pro-rated fees available if you sign up for a class mid-way. - Classes can be cancelled due to low enrollment. - If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, all fees will be refunded.
