About Your Instructor Catrin Perih is a painter and art educator based in Hastings on Hudson. Born and raised in Wales, she has lived in New York since the late 1980s and brings decades of painting experience to her teaching. Catrin has exhibited her work in Westchester and Brooklyn, with features in publications including "Lleisiau Voices, Words to Welsh Art." Working from her Hastings studio in watercolor, acrylic, oil and digital media, Catrin understands how different mediums inform each other. Her teaching approach emphasizes both technical skill building and personal artistic exploration. Why Watercolor at Maker Hive? Watercolor embodies many of the same principles we value in our other maker classes - experimentation, learning from unexpected results, and iterative improvement. The medium teaches patience, adaptability, and creative problem-solving as you learn to work with (rather than against) the unpredictable nature of water and pigment. Whether you're creating landscapes, portraits, or abstract studies, you're engaging in the same design thinking process that serves makers in any medium - planning, testing, adapting, and refining your approach.
