Description
10 sessions Who should take this class: Students new to making, coding, or circuits. No prior experience needed! What you will learn: Students master essential maker skills step by step, then discover the magic when they combine everything together. They'll explore simple circuits to light up LEDs to more advanced circuits incorporating programmable LEDs controlled by a microcontroller. They will develop computational thinking through Micro:bit programming with visual blocks, and learn fabrication techniques from cardboard engineering to 3D printing or laser cutting custom parts. Fall Theme - Light Up Your World: Students explore the magic of light through programmable LEDs, creating interactive holiday decorations, light-up wearables, and illuminated sculptures. A signature project is designing and building illuminated holiday houses with Micro:bit-controlled lighting that creates twinkling windows, color-changing rooflines, and interactive doorway effects. Skills practiced: • Basic circuits • Micro:bit programming • Intro to CAD design for 3D printing or laser cutting • Cardboard engineering • Prototyping and iteration • User-centered design Class Information 5% family discount for anyone signing up more than one person.
