The Creative Tech class is oriented for returning students or students who have more than basic familiarity with code, simple electronics and/or 3D design / modeling. This class assumes students are familiar with prototyping with cardboard, understand concepts of electricity and simple circuits, prototyping with breadboards and incorporating and coding microcontrollers. This is a project-based class. At the beginning of the session, each student decides on an idea to work on for the duration of the semester. We work together to create a plan that includes getting to a functional prototype as well as nice to have features. We think through user experience as well as the materials we will need to get to our end goal. After a few initial design and planning sessions, students start working on their projects with the goal of getting to a functional prototype by the last class. Students have the opportunity to go deep on topics that interest them. Topics could be coding, 3D design, digital fabrication, electronics, micro-controllers and sensors in depth.
