No Sessions on 10/31, 11/28 and 12/5 Who should take this class: Young makers in Kindergarten through 2nd grade who are ready to start their maker journey. What you will learn: Perfect for little hands and big imaginations! Students master the fundamental building skills that every maker needs. Through playful exploration with cardboard, tape, and simple tools, they develop fine motor skills, spatial reasoning, and engineering thinking. Kids learn to measure carefully, cut safely, and join pieces together to create amazing structures. Fall Theme - Build Your World: Create cozy cardboard houses with opening doors and windows, design furniture that fits inside, and construct entire neighborhoods. Projects include building a family of cardboard robots with moving arms, designing marble runs with ramps and tunnels, and creating wearable cardboard armor and costumes. Essential Skills: Students learn to use rulers and measuring tools, practice safe cutting with child-friendly tools, master various joining techniques (tape, brads, slots, glue), understand how shapes and structures work together, and develop persistence when designs don't work the first time. Additionally, students explore basic computer skills including mouse control, keyboard and typing fundamentals, and introductory CAD design using Tinkercad to recreate their cardboard creations digitally. - You can cancel up to one week before the start of a class for a 50% refund. - No refunds if cancelled within a week of the first class (except in case of a trial first class or if we fill your spot). - Pro-rated fees available if you sign up for a class mid-way. - Classes can be cancelled due to low enrollment. - If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, all fees will be refunded.
