Fall 2026 After School
At The Maker Hive, making is a skill you build over time.
Every project has a real outcome - something you designed, built, and coded yourself. Students explore a challenge, make decisions, hit obstacles, and figure their way through building skills in coding, fabrication, and electronics along the way. Every class, at every level, weaves all three together.
Our classes are small (never more than 8 students), so every child gets real attention, real tools, and real making time. And students who come back each year are genuinely surprised by how much further they can go.
This Fall our theme is light. Every level of our program explores light as a creative and engineering tool, from glowing neon-style signs built with NeoPixel LEDs and micro:bit, to sophisticated CircuitPython installations on the Raspberry Pi Pico, to autonomous robot cars that our most advanced students have been building across multiple sessions.
There's a path for every maker:
-
Cardboard Engineering (Grades K–2) — building, spatial reasoning, and intro to design thinking with real tools
-
Maker Lab (Grades 2–8) for returning and new students — circuits, micro:bit coding, CAD design, and fabrication. New and returning sections.
-
Creative Tech (Grades 5–8) — Python programming on the Raspberry Pi Pico
-
Lego Robotics Lab (Grades 4–8) — LEGO Spike Prime, challenge-based, non-competitive
-
First Lego League & Creative Tech: Autonomous Cars — by invitation
